Apricots!

Hows this for weird? ...

The English word apricot comes from the French abricot, which in turn comes from the Catalan albercoc, which in turn comes from the Arabic al-barquq, which in turn comes from the Greek barc, who got that from the Latin alberginia, who got that from the Arabic al-bâdindjân, who got that from the Persians, who got their word from the Sanskrit barraca!

On the subject of weird:

There are three types of deja vu:

The first is called deja vecu (already lived) and was described by Charles Dickens like this: "We have all some experience of a feeling, that comes over us occasionally, of what we are saying and doing having been said and done before, in a remote time - of our having been surrounded, dim ages ago, by the same faces, objects, and circumstances - of our knowing perfectly what will be said next, as if we suddenly remember it!"

The second is called deja senti (already felt) - it is experienced by some epileptics and is where you remember something, and along with the memory comes a sense of satisfaction, as though you had been searching for this memory for a while; however at the same time you are dimly aware that the thing you remember never happened and the "memory" is false. Then a few minutes later you completely forget it ever happened.

The third type is called deja visite (already visited) and is what's happening to you should you ever arrive at a place you have never been, yet you know your way around, while at the same time fully aware that such knowledge should be utterly impossible. It's very similar to deja vecu, except that deja vecu is awareness that a situation has happened before whereas deja visite is awareness that you have been in that place (the place you are visiting for the first time) before.

The opposite of deja vu is jamais vu, meaning "never seen". It occurs when you're in a prefectly familiar situation (and you are aware of that), but you have the impression that you've never been in that situation before.

An interesting site

An even more interesting site - this is what scientologists actually believe!!!
