Recovery
Saturday night was a good night. One of the duty managers at Hoyts has left, and Saturday night was his farewell party. It went off! I think it out-did the farewell party for our two assistant managers that was just over a month ago (although I wasn't at that one because I was too tired after work). I think Saturday night was definitely one of the best parties I've been to.
It's cool that Hoyts is finally starting to undergo the transition from "some cool people you work with" to "massive extended work family". That's what happened at Berkeley and is what made it such a great place to work. Apparently it's a pretty universal thing at cinemas. At Berkeley it took almost a year for it to start happening, which is about how long its taken at Hoyts.
Unfortunately I had work yesterday, which meant recovery had to wait until last night and today. I only got about 2 hours sleep on Sunday morning and most of that wasn't until the sun came up. It was depressing that my shift was four times longer than the amount of sleep I got! Didn't make for a good shift, but I survived, and so did the cinema, so all good.
I managed to do something on Saturday evening that I've wanted to do for years - put a coin under a train. The flat where we had the party is next to the railway tracks - the eastern line to be exact. I got onto them (which involves missioning it down a tall, near-vertical bank, stepping over a muddy creek, and missioning it up the other near-vertical side) and stuck a 50c coin onto the rail so a train would go over it and flatten it. I actually stuck two down, but the train took the first one with it, so I had to go back and put a second one down. I now have a coin that has been under the Overlander to Wellington! It's now about twice the size that it was originally. The picture of the Endeavour is still largely intact, but the queen's head has been almost completely flattened out. It's pretty cool!
I even took a picture of it to put up here. It's pretty blurry, because my 2 megapixel phone can't seem to focus on it, even though it could focus perfectly when i held it away from text at the same distance. The black spots are the remains of the tape that held it to the tracks.

I'm glad you enjoyed the party. I think it was a complete success apart from the Ipod incident. You should bring a coin to flatten every time we have a party that way you will have a little pocket sized momento of night/s.
Then you can look back on it nostalgicaly and sigh, "Remember the 20c party?, That was a good party" lol
