Out Of The Stone Age And Into The Fire
I hate my internet. Not only does it disconnect whenever I open utorrent, but we're with xtra. This means we have a 6GB monthly cap - for the same price that we could be getting 1GB a day from Worldnet.
Unfortunately the bureaucratic process at home means that it will probably be a long, long time before that changes. What makes it worse is that I'm the only one who places any importance on our internet, because I'm the one who uses most of it. It's not just a simple matter of "dude your internet sucks! Change it!" First all the options have to be investigated to find the best plans. Then start-up deals have to be looked at because our modem came with our xtra plan, so we'd need a modem and installation. Then we have to look at antiviruses, because the antivirus on our home computer is provided as part of our xtra plan. Again this will mean looking for the best one (and then choosing Norton instead).
I found the best plan (1GB a day from Worldnet), but mum has never heard of Worldnet, meaning that they must also be thoroughly investigated before we can switch to them. Then paying for everything must be arranged (some of which will most likely fall on me as I'm the one who uses it the most).
So if anyone out there has a positive review (or a negative one) about Worldnet, please share.
In other news, much to the horror of my parents, I'm planning on lowering my car when I can afford it. I'm not going to do it the budget way - cutting the springs, but do it properly - getting adjustable springs and a Certificate of Fitness. It means I'll get pulled over a whole lot more, but so long as I'm not going too fast that should be all good. Lowering it will improve performance (especially around corners) and stop it looking ridiculously high (the gap between the wheels and the body is wider than the wheels themselves) (the proper word for cars that look like mine is "tractor"). Unfortunately lowering it also carries the negative effect of looking like a retard trying to get over a speed bump (and becoming one of the people I laugh at), and possibly scraping my bumper every time I get into my driveway.
I think deep down my parents are afraid that if I lower my car I'll spontaneously morph into an irresponsible 15 year old and go to the drags and get arrested for going four times the speed limit. If anything I'll probably drive more carefully simply because I don't want to hit a bump and stop dead.

You already know this but I've only got positive things to say about Worldnet and I've been using them for over a year now. They're much better then Xtra, Ihug and Slingshot - and I know that from having used and/or approached all those providers.
As for antivirus, every single techie I know will tell you not to use Nortons. It clogs your computer with a bunch of useless files and slows it down ridiculously. All the techies use AVG which is free, or if you also want spyware/adware protection is avaliable for purchase. I've been using it for 4 years (at least) and have found it to be completely effective and easy to install and use, as well as not clogging my computer and slowing it down.
Hope that helps :-)
Cheers :D
