Coming Soon
Here's something interesting. New Zealand's TV service is getting a bit of a revamp. Not only is Freeview going to be available to three quarters of NZ pretty soon (Freeview is NZ's first free-to-air digital TV and radio provider), but we're getting more TV channels.
The biggest new thing at the moment is channel 6, which screens family shows and arts and drama shows. Coming in March is channel 7, which will be a 24 hour "news and information" channel. It won't be 24 hour news coverage like Sky News, but will mostly contain documentaries and current affairs shows.
Another channel coming soon is Maori TV's second channel, although there doesn't seem to be much information on it yet.
Another channel available is Parliament TV which airs unedited screenings of what goes on in the Parliament debating chamber.
Several other digital channels will be launched over the next few years, as there are still 11 spare channels available on the Freeview platform.
It's pretty cool.
