Interesting Things

Here's something interesting: Dinosaur Comics. Each day's comic is identical. The only thing that changes from day to day is the what the characters say. They say some wacky stuff. A lot of it is wacky, a lot is philisophical [I cannot for the life of me remember how to spell that word at the moment], and some of it is frankly inspiring.

Something else that's very interesting is Heroes. I am now hopelessly addicted to this show. Despite the fact that it's basically like X-Men ("despite"? X-Men is still very good . . . ), which makes the whole "there are hundreds of people all with a unique superpower" idea seem pretty tired, it is extremely good! I think its strongest point is the complete believability of it. The acting is brilliant and the characters are completely believable - so much so that I've been spending hours upon hours watching episode after hour-long episode, completely absorbed in the Heroes world and the lives of the characters that are in it. I've always said that it doesn't matter what a show is about - if the characters are utterly believable, then the show will be good. (Actually I've never said that, but I think I've believed it somewhere in the back of my mind.)

Another thing I've come across recently that's interesting is Daft Punk. Thanks to the recommendation of someone at work I started listening to them. Now I love them! They bring something completely new to techno/trance, and I really like it! The best way to talk about what they're like is to let them demonstrate for themselves. This is their track Around the World / Harder Better Faster Stronger from their Alive 2007 tour. The sound quality is terrible (it's quiet and has no base), but it gives you an idea of their sound:

But I have to say this - while these things are interesting, they are ultimately just interesting things. What really matters are your family and your friends. It's recently come home to me (yet again) just how important these groups of people are. It's the people around you that really matter. Thanks guys. I just wish that people wouldn't drift apart. I've lost touch with a lot of good people over the years, and I don't want to lose the friends I have now.

And with that, which I will probably reread tomorrow morning and wonder why I wrote it, I leave you to go and watch more Heroes. Here's another of those nice little motivational cards I was putting at the ends of my posts for a while:
