Mars Hoax
Sorry Kat, but that email your mum received saying Mars would be the closest it's been in 5000 years on August 27th was a hoax. I checked it out and this is what I found.
That happened in 2003 - when Mars and Earth passed the closest they possibly can on August 27th. The same email went around last year too. Check out these sites:
